Re: portfolio construction views

Hi alanp66; flattery will get you everywhere!

I quite like it and I'm fine with the Low Volatility allocation, though I would probably simplify it a little - having too many holdings with little money coming in will make rebalancing hard [more]

Re: Aberdeen UK tracker Finals

I don't understand - what's the point in an tracker based IT? How can it compete with ETFs? I could see the lure if it was geared, but it isn't!

Re: investment trust percentage

You can got with ETFs for trackers that are the cheapest possible as long as you can buy and sell in sensible amounts (and the HL fee is also capped).

Why not? You're not a housing charity or government agency. Its fine to think the system is wrong and want it changed while not wearing a hairshirt.

Re: iShares Minimum Volatility ETFs

Note that it doesn't have reporting status yet! Careful outside a SIPP/ISA!

Ossiam do the same thing and have ETFs with reporting status, though they aren't as cheap. I think they may be thinly traded too.

I don't see how TD are being unreasonable here:

- They sensibly require extra verification for the first log-in from this new "device" (be it a new PC or [more]

HL charge a 0.5% fee for holding shares, ITs, ETFs (+ gilts and bonds), capped at £200, which YouInvest doesn't have. I see HL now have a cheap regular investing mechanism though!

Re: A Portfolio of 12 Investment Trusts

I think a tracker trust is sort-of cheating for the above exercise... What about City of London (CTY) for FTSE100? It tends to stick to the large caps and is solid.

I like Blackrock Smaller Companies (BRSC) for tiny-cap stocks.
