Minimum wages may increase peoples pre tax income but if their in receipt of benefits the withdrawal rate may mean that the largest ultimate beneficiary is actually the state. Its not a simple situation.

I dislike when managers shuffle round the capital and make CGT calculations more tricky. I'm also wary of the effect that I might buy into it on the basis of how I feel about the share performance I've experienced. I've sold.

Maybe not in quite those terms but managers do for instance scale back their holdings; hold more cash, invest in businesses which have more defensive characteristics etc. Weather this can actually work in practise is another thing.

Are there really that many p2p opportunities that an invester can't acesss them directly and save the middleman?

I guess if your a really small investor. Mostly this feels more like a fashion launch than a niche to exploit.
